The Crowded Closet is a Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) thrift shop located at 1213 Gilbert Court in Iowa City, Iowa. All proceeds go to support MCC. The Crowded Closet expresses Christian faith in action by offering a friendly, caring presence in the community, providing opportunities for volunteers to give of their time and talents, and receiving and reselling donated items. Business hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Donations and dollars spent at the Crowded Closet support MCC projects that assist many needy people in our own and other countries. The Crowded Closet offers gently used clothing for the entire family, housewares, furniture, books, records, fabric, much miscellaneous, and many one of a kind items at reasonable prices. The specialty section includes many unusual, antique, and collectable items. Check out the Internation Gift Shoppe for a wide range of gift and unique items. The inventory changes daily depending upon recent donations.

The Crowded Closet gratefully accepts donations Monday through Friday during business hours from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.; and on Saturday 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Furniture in need of repair
Ruined furniture or mattresses

Large appliances

Console TVs or stereos

Non-working electrical items or appliances

Gas or electric engines

Car batteries

Tires or wheels

Weapons or ammunitions

Hazardous chemicals

Opened cans of paint

Glass pieces

Glass jars other than canning, baby food or pharmacy

Newspapers, telephone books

Venetian blinds or curtain rods

Carpeting scraps

Scrap metal or wood

Exercise equipment
